Allergic reactions or hypersensitivity is an exaggerated immune response, with varies degrees ranging from mild to severe, the substance which under normal circumstances is not actually harmful.
Served immune system protects the body against harmful substances (antigens). However, in people who are sensitive, the immune system can overreact to substances which for most people is usually not harmful. The result is allergies.
Allergies experienced by each person is not the same. Some people are just allergic to one substance, while some other may be
allergic to various substances.
Infants and small children are generally more prone to allergies because their immune systems are still
not fully developed and the level of adaptation to environment around. Allergens will cause an allergic reaction indirectly through contact with the skin, respiratory tract (inhalation), gastrointestinal (consumption of food / beverages) or injection (eg injection or bites / stings of insects).
