DON'T LET THE WEATHER GET YOU DOWN
No matter where you live in the world the weather can get you down. If you have allergies like me it can make you feel even worse! Lately the dry cold weather has made me feel exhausted, stuffy headed with severe sinus pressure. Oh what fun. Even the thought of going for a run, picking up some weights or skating makes me weak. Somewhere deep inside I make myself get going. It's a determination to not give up because I know how hard it is to get motivated the next time. Newton's law of inertia states that a body at rest remains at rest, and a body in motion continues moving. Your mind is a powerful thing and is needed in psyching yourself in or out of being successful. 90% of the work is picturing yourself doing the thing that is challenging you. The weather can get you down but don't let it keep you down. Stay healthy for the long haul. You'll be glad you did, I know I am.
GETTING PSYCHED
What does it mean to get to "psyched" the dictionary idiom defines it as someone enthusiastic about something they will do. Hmmm guess where I'm going with this one? We all need to get psyched a majority of the time in order to start a workout. Some days it's literally all mental for me to push myself out that door to go run or push through another rep. I have to think about the end result and picture myself finishing my run strong or gaining more definition in the muscle I'm sculpting. I realize that demanding schedules can leave us feeling like there isn't time to fit in a workout. The first step is getting yourself psyched into it and before you know it you'll have more energy, strength and motivation for whatever life brings your way.
